Heavy, oily vintage leathers are a timeless choice. Often they will be vegetable skins, i.e. those that have been tanned with natural vegetable tannins in a traditional, ancient way. Due to the natural nature of the tannins, the color palette is not extreme, but nevertheless it can surprise you with the intensity of orange or the fullness of brown. It is worth getting acquainted with the vegetable tanned leathers offered by manufacturers, because apart from deeply reaching traditions, there are also very high technical parameters. How is the skin dyed?

After tanning leather (chrome, chrome-free or vegetable), the leather is dyed. It consists in applying a dye to the skin, which is absorbed by it. After the pigment has been absorbed by the skin, any excess paint has to be rinsed off. The next step is to apply the paint again, but this time darker. The surface, or pigment, dyeing is listed. It consists in additionally dyeing the skin layer with a color based on a pigment, which at the same time protects the skin surface. Skin dyed on the surface is easy to recognize - a drop of water applied to this type of dyeing will remain on the surface of the skin.
